Gloria Ann Geary's Obituary
Gloria Ann Geary, born on January 29th, 1949 in Aberdeen SD, peacefully transitioned from this earth to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 24th, 2025 in Bentonville, Arkansas. She endured a long and brave battle with cancer over a period of almost 7 years. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joyce Monlux and Lyle Smith.
Gloria was one of 7 children and grew up on a farm outside Aberdeen, SD. She moved to Rogers, Arkansas with her husband, Tim and her children, Jennifer and Joshua in the fall of 1974. She remained a devoted wife and mother supporting her family through various jobs, moves, school, children’s marriages, and grandchildren. Gloria was an active member of Springdale First Assembly of God Church. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi service sorority and treasured the friendships and philanthropy that the sorority offered her.
Gloria found joy in preparing meals and finding loving gifts to celebrate every holiday, birthday, and anniversary. Her surprise cupcakes and hot chocolate were family favorites. She had a knack for giving the perfect card (yet sometimes forgetting to sign it) and never missed a celebration. She enthusiastically embraced all of her life’s roles, such as Nana to her grandchildren and shopping partner to her lifelong friend Susan Spear.
Gloria was a fun loving, engaging, and loving mother and grandmother with a witty sense of humor. She enjoyed being with her church family, reading a mystery novel, finding a good bargain at TJ MAXX, lunch at Bariola’s, a Heath Blizzard (extra Heath) from Dairy Queen, and hosting a family gathering ending with a game or two of dominoes. She most of all enjoyed being with her family and friends and especially her kids and grandchildren.
Gloria found solace and community at Springdale First Assembly of God Church, where her visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd starting at 10:00 am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am.
Gloria is preceded in death by her father, Lyle Smith; mother, Joyce Monlux; brother, Gary Smith; sisters, Robin Stroup and Marcia Coble; nephew, Casey Smith and nephew, Shannon Fry; and sisters-in-law, Valerie Smith and Sue Smith.
Gloria is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, Timothy Geary; her daughter, Jennifer Keller and husband, Doug Keller of Rogers, AR; her son, Joshua Geary and wife, Jennifer Geary of Rogers, AR; eight grandchildren, Addison Keller, Dr. Alyssa Keller, Peyton Weaver, Paige Hoffman, Michel-Anne Bridges, Mason Geary, Logan Geary, Emily Geary; one great grandchild, Brice Bridges; and four siblings; Sheryl Horan of Sioux Falls, SD, Tracy Larson of West Fargo, ND, Rick Smith of Sioux Falls, SD, and George Smith of Minneapolis, MN.
