Gloria Laverne Chipman McLemore's Obituary
Gloria Laverne Chipman McLemore, age 98, of Fayetteville, AR, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023. She was born April 24, 1925, in Memphis, TN, a daughter of the late Oscar Chipman and Mary Sumners Jennings. Also preceding her in death was her spouse, R.E. McLemore, Jr.; a sister, Libby Elliott; a brother, Dr. William Jennings, a grandchild Kimberly Ann Scacewater and longtime companion Robert.
Before her marriage she worked at MGM Metro Golden Meyer in Memphis. She was a long-time member of University Baptist Church in Fayetteville, beginning in 1968, when she and her husband relocated from Dallas, Tx. to Fayetteville for his job with American Cyanamid. Not only did Gloria have many friends, she never met a stranger, and never failed to make a personal connection with anyone that came her way. She had many interests, including the Garden Club. She loved her family and her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her smile and laugh were infectious.
Survivors are her daughters, Karen Zaccanti (Al), Melanie Scacewater, (Greg), Mary Ellen Finerty (Michael); her sister, Mary Katherine Mascolo; her grandchildren, Kari Ann Bridges (Col. Olen Chad Bridges), Mark Scacewater, Dr. Todd Scacewater (Dezi), Brandon Finerty, Connor Finerty; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 1, at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral services begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Nelson Berna. Burial is in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
