Gloria Miller's Obituary
Gloria Jean Carson Miller, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on May 17, 2016 in Fayetteville. Gloria was born in Hannibal, Missouri on August 2, 1930 to Carl and Nell Shaffer Carson. She grew up in Black Rock, Arkansas and lived in Maple Park, Illinois, Jonesboro, Arkansas, and La Jolla, California before moving to Fayetteville in 2006. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband David Miller, Sr., son Rick Hall, sisters Bonnie Penrod and Joan Carson, and son in laws Nelson P. Henry, Jr., George Robert Cole, Jr., and Kenny Koch. Gloria was a long-time member of the Church of Christ. She worked the majority of her life in retail, owning her own store in Jonesboro called 'The Meeting Place', and continued in retail at Nordstrom in California. After moving to Fayetteville she continued to work at her granddaughter's dance studio, Bak Stage. She lived a long, full life devoted to her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne Hall Henry Cole of Fayetteville; son Dave Miller, Jr. and wife Lisa and daughter Kathy Koch of, California; granddaughters Jordan Henry Roehrenbeck and Ryan of Little Rock, Arkansas, Cassandra Faddis and husband Dean of California, Mackenzie Miller of California, and Kelly Valdez and husband Joey of California; grandsons Eric Brandon Hall of Texas, Aaron Hall of California, Matthew Miller of California, and Brian Koch and wife Nikki of California; brothers Dan Carson and wife Orva of Maple Park, Illinois, and James Carson and wife Karen of Sycamore, Illinois; sisters Sue Ackley and husband Bob of Aurora, Illinois; brother-in-law Don Penrod of Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-law Glenda Willis of Indiana; lifelong friend and father of her children Brooks Hall and wife Elinor of Jonesboro, Arkansas; 6 great grandchildren and 1 on the way, and a host of friends, family, and loved ones.
There will be a visitation Friday, May 20 at the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro in the atrium from 5:00 p.m. To 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Powhatan Cemetery Saturday the 21st at 10:00 a.m. Cremation was by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
