Grady Glen Fincher's Obituary
Grady Glen Fincher, retired physician, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in Fayetteville, Arkansas on January 10, 2025.
Glen was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on November 22, 1934 to Grady Lee and Lois Blake Fincher. He graduated from Waldo High School and then from the University of Arkansas where he received a BS in chemistry in 1956. He then attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he received an MD in 1960. It was while he was at UAMS that he met his future wife, Martha Hutson. They were married in Carlisle, Arkansas on July 2, 1959.
He served in the United States Air Force with the rank of captain from 1962 to 1964. Following his military service, he completed his residency in ear, nose, and throat surgery in Dallas, Texas with the VA, and he was certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. In 1968 he and Martha moved to Fayetteville where together they opened the Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy Clinic. After practicing ENT there for 46 years he retired in December, 2014. In January 2015 he and Martha moved to Butterfield Trail Village where he resided until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Lois Fincher and his brothers, Donald Blake Fincher and Gerald Kemp Fincher. He leaves behind his wife, Martha Hutson Fincher, their daughter, Ann Fincher, their son, Stephen Fincher and his wife, Eva Rea, and also their son, Philip Fincher and his wife Stephanie. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Brittany Tollett and husband Doug, Melissa Kornbluth and husband Jeff, Elizabeth Fincher, Blake Fincher, Selena Fincher, and Zack Fincher.
Glen enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his chief interest was in serving the Lord by teaching Sunday School. He taught a Sunday School class everywhere he lived, to junior high boys, college students, young married couples, and finally to the "Nifty Fifties".
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21 at 12:00 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Interment will follow immediately at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
