Obituary
Hale (Hobie) B. Cadieux, of Bentonville, AR died unexpectedly on January 15, 2020.
Hobie is survived by his son, Spencer; his ex-wife, Barclay Sharon both of Charlotte, NC; his sister, Cynthia Cogswell; brothers, Robert, Timothy, and Jon and his wife, Stacy of Bella Vista, AR, along with their children, Alexandra Cluck and Stephen Cadieux as well as several other nieces, nephews, and their children. He was preceded in death by his father, Hale W. Cadieux; his mother, Donna M. Robandt; and stepfather, Herman A. Robandt.
Hobie was born in Indianapolis, IN January 29, 1964 to Hale and Donna Cadieux. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1983 and attended college in central Florida where he studied Business Administration. After college, Hobie spent several years working in the hospitality industry. In 1993, Hobie made the move from Central Florida to Charlotte, NC where he met his future wife Barclay, celebrated the birth of his son Spencer, and made many lifelong friends. During this time, he joined West Marine as a sail rigging consultant. In 2015 he once again moved, this time choosing to move near his brother Jon and his family in Bentonville, AR, where in typical Hobie fashion, made many good friends and threw himself into the biking community. Hobie had a reputation for being easy going and a ton a fun.
Hobie was an avid sailor. He grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan where, at a young age, he learned to sail 470’s at the St. Joseph Junior Foundation eventually becoming a sailing instructor. Even after moving to Central Florida and Charlotte, NC he continued sailing socially and competitively racing around the Great Lakes and on Lake Norman usually as the helmsman. He and his brother Jon loved sailing together on their 18’ Hobie Cat off the shores of St Joseph on Lake Michigan. In the early 80’s Hobie took up windsurfing where easily became a windsurfing master. After moving to Charlotte, he joined the Lake Norman Yacht Club where he had his J24 and raced it competitively, loving every minute of it.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:30 to 7:30PM, Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Four Points Hotel, 211 SE Walton Blvd, Bentonville, AR.
