Helen Janice Harris' Obituary
Helen Janice Harris, age 90, passed away peacefully Sunday October 5, 2025, in Springdale, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. She was born on February 18, 1935, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Roy and Gertie Corley.
Helen dedicated her life to education, earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees and devoting 30 years to teaching in Tulsa Public Schools. She was deeply committed to shaping young minds and left a lasting impact on countless students over the years.
In 1972, she married the love of her life, Glenn Harris. Together they built a life full of faith and family. Upon retirement in 1991, Helen and Glenn moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, where they became active members of First Baptist Church in Springdale. Later, they joined Cross Church Pinnacle Hills, where Helen continued to grow in her faith and community.
Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband Glenn, her parents Roy and Gertie Corley, and her daughter Debra Lanik.
She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Jason and his wife Christina, and Renee Henderson and her husband Kevin. She also leaves behind three cherished great-grandchildren: Ava, Arianna, and Zaylan and one great great-grandchild Kyzen Hay who brought immense joy to her later years.
A memorial service honoring Helen’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Rogers, Arkansas.
