Helen Marguerite Kizer Kennedy's Obituary
Helen Marguerite Kizer Kennedy left this world behind for her forever home with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Helen was born on January 2, 1927, in Eagletown, OK, to Charley C. Kizer and Ona E. Lisenby Kizer. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Bill N. Kennedy, her parents, a brother, Harold G. Kizer, and two sisters, Mary E. Godwin, and Veatrice M. Mathrole, an infant son, Jimmy H. Ferguson, and daughter-in-law Bobbie Rose Ferguson.
Helen is survived by a son, David M. Ferguson and daughter-in-law Jana S. Ferguson of Fayetteville, AR; two devoted grand-daughters, Melani Summers (Steve), of Prairie Grove, AR, Michele Gainer (Gregg) of Johnson, AR, and the special joys of her life, her great grandchildren, Lauren Gibney (Derek), Jordan Berner (Caleb), Colby Gainer, and Katelyn Summers; and great-great grandchildren J.C. Gibney, Esther Berner, and Josie Gibney.
Helen had several careers, including small business ownership, and working many years at ADM Milling Company and Southwestern Bell (now AT&T), living in North Little Rock, Wichita, Olathe, and Kansas City, KS, before moving to Fayetteville to be closer to family. Helen was a founding member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and enjoyed attending until her health prevented it. She enjoyed countless weekly Rummikub games with Butterfield Trail Village residents and later with family, beating us soundly even two weeks ago. She adored dogs, especially her German Shepherds, and wasn’t without their companionship until she moved into BTV. Other favorite pastimes were reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and watching the Razorbacks and Chiefs play football.
She was dearly loved by her family, and we will all miss her smiles, quick wit, and her adoring love for our little ones.
Visitation will be from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM Friday, November 1, 2024, at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM at Nelson Berna. Entombment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
