Helen Rae Hamilton's Obituary
Helen Rae Hamilton, 83 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Monday, January 21, 2008 in Fayetteville. She was born September 4, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA to Joseph H. and Rae (Uhrig) McMaken.
She earned a B.S Ed. from Indiana University and a M.S. from Butler University. She taught in public schools in Ohio and Indiana for many years. She was active in the DAR in both Indiana and Arkansas, where she served as Parliamentarian. She also was an active member of National
Federation of Business and Professional Women, National Education Association, The Smithsonian Institution, Society of Indiana Pioneers, Indiana State Museum Society and The Nature Conservancy. She served as a volunteer at the Shiloh Museum in Springdale.
She is survived by two sons, Sandy Hamilton and wife Donna of Fayetteville, AR, Joseph Hamilton of Fayetteville, AR, one daughter; Lynda H. McMaken and husband Jim Lagdon of Bainbridge Island, WA, and two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, January 25, 2008 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Darren Rogers officiating.
