Helen "Lucille" Simpson Phillips' Obituary
Helen Lucille Simpson Phillips, 95, of Cave Springs, AR passed away December 2, 2015 at Circle of Life in Springdale, AR. She was born January 22, 1920 in Cave Springs to Roy and Norma Ford Simpson. She was raised in the Cave Springs area where she attended school at Evening Star, Liberty Bell and Cave Springs schools. She met and married Fred Macon Phillips in 1940. In 1959, Fred and Lucille relocated to Alta Loma, CA. While raising four children, she worked a variety of jobs including the chicken plant in Bentonville, food service for Bentonville School District, manager of an area hotel in MO, picking fruit in CA and Washington; raising chickens, with her favorite being many years as a nurse s aide in CA.Lucille and Fred returned to AR in 1978 to enjoy their retirement years, although Lucille never really retired. She stayed busy with her large vegetable and flower gardens, crocheting and quilting many works of art. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Razorbacks and PGA golf, spending time with family and friends and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren. Lucille was a Christian and a member of the Church of Christ in Cave Springs.She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Phillips; son, Gary Phillips; brother, Bobby Simpson; sister, Emma Jean Marchant; son-in-law, Howard Sands and grandson, Wayne Sands.Survivors include one daughter, Marlene Sands of Cave Springs; 2 sons, Larry G. Phillips (Rosalinda) of Chino, CA and Bruce Phillips (Linda) of Sacramento, CA; 8 grandchildren, Rick Sands of Ponca City, OK, Lena Lewis (Danny) of Bentonville, AR, Dale Sands (Danna) of Rogers, AR, Larry Phillips, Jr (Kylie), Shawn Phillips (Danielle) of Chino, CA, Melissa Phillips of San Francisco, CA, Rebecca Phillips and Taylor Phillips of Sacramento, CA; 13 great grandchildren, Derek Sands, Christie Knisley (Mark), Jeremy Cavness (Abby), Shontelle Hicks (Dustin), Ryan Sands, Kyle Sands (Rasha), Keagan Sands (Ashley), Kinae Gibson (Shaun), Colby Sands, Chase Phillips, Rudy Phillips, Aiden Phillips, Kamdin Phillips; 15 great-great grandchildren, Macy, Taylor, Suttyn, Cully, Kaius, Ellie, Griffin, Peyton, Beckham, Maddison, Raky, Kaylex, Ziggy, Amilia and Landon; brother, Melvin Simpson (Norma) of Rogers, AR and many nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services will be at 10:00AM Saturday, December 5th, 2015 at the Cave Springs Church of Christ with Travis Harbin and Roger Autrey officiating. Burial will follow at Phillips Cemetery in Cave Springs. Lucille s grandchildren and great- grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. There will be a gathering for a time of fellowship at the church following the burial.Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time.Memorials may be made in memory of Lucille Phillips to Phillips Cemetery, 478 Shores Ave, Cave Springs, AR 72718.Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
