Henry “H. C.” Harris, 73, passed from this life Friday, January 25, 2013 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale after a long, hard fight with cancer. He was born September 22, 1939 in Mulberry, Arkansas to D. C. and Eunice Beck H Read Obituary
I just recently heard about HC's passing, I have always enjoyed running into him on jobsites or around town. One of the last times I saw him was probably at an UofA auction and he helped me bid on a washer. Miss seeing other family members.
HC had an astounding knowlwdge of mechanical operations. He had innate abilities that extended way beyond just electriclal engineering. For the years he devoted to the Wheeler Fire Department the community of Wheeler should have a strong sense of indebetedness. The struggles of the very early years of the Fire Department were immensely improved by the precence of a person as devoted and knowledgable as HC.
I am the wife of Chris Adams. Chris has always spoken so very highly of HC and gave him credit for starting him on the life path Chris took. Chris is a Master electrician and said HC gave him his first electrical job. He also led him to starting his service as a volunteer fireman and he still volunteers his time today with the MRC. HC was such a big influence in my husband life and helped shape the man I married. I never had the pleasure of meeting HC but I am thankful for the time he invested in my husband. H.C. was one of the good guys. I knew him at School of the Ozarks, and felt that he would be a success.
H.C. was one of the best men I have ever had the pleasure to know, and I was honored to call him a friend. Since the day I met him on the U of A stadium project, he always went out of his way to help me and give me advice whenever i asked. He had probably forgotten more about our line of work than most of the rest of us electricians will ever know. I am terribly sorry for the family's loss, but let it be remembered that there are a lot of us out there who are better people for having known him. God Bless, Josh Hennings and family

The Wheeler Fire Department might very well have not made it past 1980 without the electrical skills of H.C. He was one of the first firemen that started the department and wired the fire station during the remodel of the old canning factory to be Wheeler Station 1. After he retired from the department we could count on him for his help with any project, and if you know H you know I mean ANY project, and he would always be one of the few people that attended the annual meeting for WFD to show his continued support for the department. Not sure who we will call when we are adding or upgrading electrical work at the station and someone says "Call H.C. and ask him what he did here". H.C. Harris will be missed. H. will be missed by all of the Rakes family. He was an inspiration to all of us in his work and funny stories.
