Hilliard Jackson's Obituary
Hilliard Jackson, 89, died September 28th, 2006 in Fayetteville,Arkansas.
He was born April 23, 1917 in Mulberry, Arkansas to Andrew and Cassie Wagner Jackson. He was educated in Mulberry schools, attended Arkansas Tech for two years and received a BS degree from the University of Arkansas in 1938. He received his Masters degree from Louisiana State University in Agricultural Economics in 1941. He served in the Army from 1942-1946. His earliest employment was with the Farmers Security Administration, the University of Arkansas and the Agricultural Extension Service as a Fruits and Vegetable Marketing Specialist. He received his PhD from North Carolina State University in 1959 in Agricultural Economics.
After receiving his PhD, he returned to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville to do research and teach in the Department of Agricultural Economics where he published numerous articles on the marketing of beef, poultry, fruits and vegetables.
Hilliard loved golf, bridge, politics and friends but his greatest passion was his family.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise of Fayetteville, one son Randolph Charles Jackson, his wife, Leslie and three grandchildren, Cassie, Sam, and Hannah Jackson of Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held Monday October, 2nd at 2:00P.M. in the Chapel of Central Methodist Church in Fayetteville AR with Dr. Bryan Fink officiating. Private entombment service will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hilliard and Eloise Jackson Scholarship Fund, ARLS, E108, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas or to Central United Methodist Church, Fayetteville Arkansas or to Butterfield Trail Village Foundation, Inc.
