Ima Fay Pelton's Obituary
Ima Fay Pelton, age 89, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. She was born on February 10, 1934, to Clarence E. and Arabella (Blackwell) Weaver. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband James Pelton.
Ima was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. She spent time in Camden before settling in Collegeville, where she attended Bryant High School. Ima was a cheerleader for the first Bryant Football team. Her sweetheart and future husband, Jimmy Pelton, was part of that team.
After getting married and having two sons, Ima and Jimmy settled in Pine Bluff in 1960. Jimmy went to work for International Paper and Ima started her career as a beautician. She had a shop at her home so that she could work and keep an eye on her boys.
After retiring in 1997, Ima and Jimmy moved to Fayetteville, where they lived close to the U of A. They loved to follow the Razorbacks and she is a long-time member of First Baptist Church where she served as a door greeter.
With Jimmy’s death in 2014, Ima continued to focus on her family and her church friends. She will be greatly missed by all as she was loved by many.
Ima is survived by her two sons, Danny Pelton and his wife Janet of Fayetteville, and Tommy Pelton and his wife Dabney of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; grandchildren Sarah Looy and husband David of Farmington, Daniel Pelton of Fayetteville, Hailey Easley and husband Seth of Little Rock, Colin Pelton and wife Meredith of Little Rock, and Laurel Davenport and husband Cory of Little Rock; eight great-grandchildren; one sister Bettie Jean Weaver Williams of Mayflower, Arkansas and many other loved ones.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville from 2 PM to 4 PM. Graveside service will take place on Monday, April 24, at Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander, Arkansas at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fayetteville.
