Ivan Lee Hill's Obituary
Ivan Lee Hill, age 87, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of February 8th, 2024. He joins his late parents, Carlos Bufford and Mary Dorothy Hill, as well as his sister Carolyn Golding. He is the beloved husband of Sylvia Ann Hill (nee Dean.) He is the cherished father of Charlotte Ann Hill. He will also be joining his beloved pets Pudge the Bulldog, Snickerdoodle the pug, and Muscles the pug.
Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas; Ivan worked for Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home during high school and college. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Finance, and three hours away from obtaining a law degree and was a member of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity.
He joined the Air Force in 1959, where he was a navigator in the Reserves, and was honorably discharged in 1965. He then moved to Tulsa, OK to work in the Trust Department at a bank and became involved in the Republican National Committee. In 1966, he began working at the Mercantile Bank in Dallas. In the late 60’s, he began a career in securities with Ling & Co as a Purchasing Agent. He eventually took a position as Communications Manager for Rauscher Pierce Refsnes for several years, setting up branch brokerage offices throughout the Southwest and California. During this time, he had the opportunity to be on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. He also met Sylvia during this time and four years later Charlotte was born. In retirement he assisted in setting up the brokerage office of First Dallas Holdings/Hodges Capital Management.
Ivan was a lover of music which led him to help establish the radio station KAAM. He enjoyed listening to Country Music, Big Band, watching classic Westerns, reading about American History, watching and learning about trains, and was an avid Tex-Mex lover. He touched many lives along his way and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Saturday March 16, 2024 at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. Funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 pm with burial to follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
