J David Wall's Obituary
John David Wall, 38, lifelong resident of Fayetteville died January 10, 2006, at his home. David was born in Houston, Texas, on April 6, 1967. He attended Woodland Jr. High and Fayetteville High School from which he graduated in 1985. David entered the University of Arkansas in the Fall of 1985 and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. In 1989, David graduated with a B.S.B.A. degree in Accounting and Data Processing and enrolled in the University of Arkansas School of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1992.
While a law student, David worked as a clerk at Fayetteville's Bassett Law Firm. After gaining his admission to the bar, David commenced his distinguished law career as an associate in the Bassett Law Firm. In 1999, David became the tenth partner of the Bassett Law Firm where he practiced until his untimely death. David was licensed to practice law in the states of Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. David was an accomplished attorney primarily defending clients in workers' compensation, casualty and commercial matters. David's kind nature and willing attitude lead him to compassionately represent a wide variety of clients in legal matters big and small. His professionalism and integrity were absolute and David garnered the respect of the judiciary, his clients and his opposition. David was the quintessential "lawyer's lawyer" and his dedication, wry smile and sense of humor will be forever missed in the legal community.
Throughout his life, David was an avid fisherman and river canoeing enthusiast. He also had a great passion for live music, thoroughbred horse racing, hand-ball, golf and bowling. He was undoubtedly one of the best barbecue chefs in all of Northwest Arkansas. David was a die-hard Razorback football and baseball fan and his tailgate parties and genuine hospitality were renowned. David strived to ensure that all were welcome in his home. Also, in the past several years, David seized a leadership role in the re-establishment of the Gamma Upsilon chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity on the University of Arkansas campus. David Wall was a great citizen and friend of Fayetteville and the University. Moreover, he was a cherished and loyal friend to all who were blessed enough to have had the opportunity to enjoy his company.
He is survived by his mother, Jacque Wall, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his father Jerry Wall of Fayetteville, and his beloved siblings Jenny Berry of Fayetteville and Jeff Wall of Dallas, Texas.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 13 at Nelson-Berna funeral home in Fayetteville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 14 at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
