J. W. 'Gabe' Gabel's Obituary
John William “Gabe” Gabel, age 92, of Fayetteville, was surrounded by family when he passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 in Fayetteville. He was born November 13, 1921 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents William Henry Gabel and Lillian (Patterson) Gabel.
He was co-founder of Lindsey & Associates, Inc. and a 62 year member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. J.W. proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.
He is predeceased by his wife, Marjolene Wilson Gabel, his parents, a son, John Wilson Gabel, and sister, Bess Gabel MacKenzie.
He is survived by three children, son James Edwin Gabel and wife Karen, of Fayetteville; daughter Joan Gabel Stankovich and husband Bob, of Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas; daughter Julie Sue Gabel and husband Michael Lynn Thomas, of Fayetteville; a daughter-in-law, Regina Bauer Gabel, of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren, Robert William Stankovich and wife Laura, of Arlington, Texas; James Garland Gabel and wife Melanie, of Fayetteville; Michael Wilson Stankovich and wife Patricia, of Vidor, Texas; Erica Gabel Hanna and husband Brown, of Fayetteville; Jennifer Gabel McClure and husband David, of Fayetteville; Brandon William Gabel and wife Kim, of Nashville, Tennessee; Robin Stankovich Messina and husband Joe, of Vidor, Texas; eleven great-grandchildren with one more arriving in April.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Moore’s Chapel, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at Central United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard Walker Hospice Home, 325 East Longview Street, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72703.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
