Jacqueline Sangster Kinney's Obituary
Jacqueline Sangster Kinney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at age 77. Jackie was born on July 3, 1947, in Searcy, Arkansas to Emma Jean and John Sangster. Jackie grew up in Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas with her siblings Jerry Lynn, Jeannie, and John.
Jackie attended North Little Rock High School where she began dating the love of her life, Reginald Lee Kinney, at age 16 and graduated in 1965 with many of her life-long friends. She attended Williams Woods College for one year and then graduated from University Arkansas at Little Rock, shortly before marrying Reggie on August 22, 1969, a marriage that would last for 53 years. Together, they had three children: Jamie, Reggie, Jr., and Mandy.
Jackie was an avid reader and worked as an elementary school librarian for over 30 years. The Kinneys moved with Reggie’s work around Texas, North Carolina, and Arkansas before settling in Fort Smith. In 1991, the family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where Jackie earned her Specialist in Education Degree from Georgia State University. After Reggie retired, he and Jackie returned to Arkansas, living in Fayetteville.
Jackie was as devoted as a mother could be and created a warm and loving home for her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. Her intellectual curiosity spurred a lifetime of learning, always cherishing her family’s traditions and their time in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, but also remaining open-minded and accepting of change throughout her life. Jackie’s selflessness and devotion was a constant source of strength and joy to family and friends, and she will be forever missed by those fortunate enough to know her.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Reggie Kinney, Sr., and son Reggie Kinney, Jr.. She is survived by her daughters Jamie Riley (Tom) and Mandy Kinney, and granddaughters Emma Creedon (Will), Grace Riley, and Olivia Kinney.
