James E. Wood's Obituary
James Edward Wood, age 88, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville. He was born December 30, 1924 on Round Mountain to Bennie and Ethel (Johnson) Wood.
He was an independent contractor and for 18 years he managed Lake Sequoyah Boat Dock before his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid sports fan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees Corp of World War II. He was a founding member of Round Mountain Community Church and Round Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernice, grandson Joshua Parker, three brothers, Donald Wood, Freddie Wood, and Claud Wood and one sister, Betty Ann.
James is survived by two daughters Wanda Parker and her husband Sonny of Greenland, Arkansas; Marcia Dunn and her husband Billy of Elkins, two sons, Ronnie Wood and his wife Brenda of Fayetteville; Jimmie Wood of Elkins; one brother, Virgil Wood of Rogers; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5 – 7:00pm, Monday, October 21, 2013 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral services are 2:00pm, Tuesday at Round Mountain Community Church with Reverend Tim Beers officiating. Burial will follow at Round Mountain Cemetery.
