James "Jimmy" Harlan Warford's Obituary
James Harlan “Jimmy” Warford, of Fayetteville passed away Tuesday June 28, 2022 at 85 years young. He was born September 28, 1936 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Harvey and Mildred Warford. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter-in-law Tamra J. Warford.
Jimmy was born and raised in South Fayetteville. In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served until 1956. Shortly after he returned home from the service, Jimmy began courting Shirley Ann Beavers. They were married on November 20, 1959 at Central Baptist Church. He worked many years for Lincoln Insurance Company as a salesman, earning many awards and certificates of recognition in his field. In 1973 he left the insurance world and took over the family business, Fayetteville Auto Spring Service. As the owner and operator of the Spring Shop, he served many families and businesses, and was a help to many in the community. Many kids in the neighborhood stopped into the Spring Shop after school to get a pop for a quarter. Jim successfully ran the Spring Shop for many decades. He was a hard worker, a loyal family man, and a great friend. His happiest moments in life were time spent with his family. Taking them out to eat every Friday night, spending the holidays with his family, or even taking them camping in his motor home. He loved his family, and he will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Shirley Ann Warford; three sons, Terry Wayne Warford, James Kevin Warford, and Craig Steven Warford; seven grandchildren, Casey Warford and his wife Kim, LeAnn Skelton and her husband Joe, James Warford and his wife Charissa, Tyler Warford, Emily Meckem and her husband Jordan, Jacob Gunter, and Dylan Warford; two brothers Freddie Warford and his wife Linda, and Jimmy Don Warford and his wife Doris; and twelve great grandchildren, Wesley Warford and his wife Nancy, Whitney Hamilton and her husband Austin, Xander Warford, Xyleigh Warford, Grant Skelton, Andrew Skelton, Jerin Warford, Eli Warford, AJ Warford, Peyton Meckem, Gwendalyn Gunter, and Finley Gunter; and many other friends, family, and loved ones.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, July 1, 2022 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday July 2, 2022 at Harris Baptist Church in Elkins, AR with burial to follow at Buckner Cemetery in Fayetteville.
