I didn’t know cousin Jimmy (my Dad and Jimmy's Dad were brothers) too well when I was young but got to know him better in high school when I was playing with The Uptights and he would come to our dances. He was the coolest guy in Bentonville (he drove a Corvette). I was eventually drafted into the Army and was hanging out with a friend at the USO in Saigon and told him that I thought I just saw my cousin there. We both agreed that was not likely but I went over to the guy and sure enough it was Jimmy. I was stationed in Long Binh and he was working as a civilian contractor just a 30 minute drive away in Bearcat. The first time he came to visit me in Long Binh he got a speeding ticket on the way from the Military Police (I bet you never heard of anyone getting a speeding ticket in a war zone). It just so happened I was with the MP company that issued the ticket and was able to get his ticket fixed. I am sorry to say we lost track of each other after I came home. If any family members see this posting I would love to visit with you sometime to meet and catch up.
Carolyn:Your father was a fine man. I know he loved you dearly & I know he was so proud of you. Blessing to you & your family.Tor Faulk
Jim became a part of our family when Carolyn and Matthew got married. He attended every Holiday or family dinner at my house and was always kind and appreciative of our time. Never at a loss for something to talk about. He was a walking book of Trivia and loved to tell me jokes. Always a good sport, he would join in on our silly games, I secretly think he enjoyed it. We will miss him and will always have lemonade at our dinners in his memory. Prayers for Carolyn, and Kim.
Jim was a thoughtful man whose energy jumped alive at the mention of trains or music. He would try to help you at anything you needed to do. Once he insisted on helping me with mending a barb-wire fence. This was not a skill in his great knowledge bank, but he truly wanted to help. Very soon he smacked his finger into the wire with the hammer and we spent the rest of that weekend day seeking a tetanus shot for him--which he didn't want, of course. I will always remember his good nature and desire to be kind and helpful. He was a special man who undertook other kindnesses that only those close to him will know. He lived with dignity and love through a life with unusual twists. I wish, as he would, peace and happiness for his extended family.
