LTC (Ret.) James “Jim” L. Buckner, died in Fayetteville, AR on July 22, 2018 at the age of 81. James is survived by his wife of 60 years Linda Ridgeway Buckner, son James L. Buckner, Jr. and wife Freda of Sand Springs, OK and son Read Obituary
Linda, I was so saddened to hear of Jims passing. I am Eleanor Rice McGinty and we were close friends in Crossett High School. Before her death, he always visited my mother in assistant living in Crossett. Please know you have my deepest sympathy. I just lost my husband in November. My heart goes out to your family.
I am very sorry to learn of the passing of Jim Buckner, a fine Christian Gentleman, Soldier, and friend. I recall our days as students at Ouachita with fondness and pride. I have had the privilege of knowing all of you in this generation, as well as the previous generation, your fine parents. I was at homecoming long ago when Bill Arrington informed me of Martha's passing. She was an older generation of students than me, but I knew her then and in Pine Bluff later, an upstanding Christian woman and fit representative of your family in society. I always thought she was the prettiest cheerleader of them all. I fondly recall Wordy serving with me in the band. Jim lived up to everyone's expectations that he would be a fine soldier. Jim and I first met at Rotary Club while working together on a global grants project. He quickly became a mentor, role model and friend. I learned a lot about myself and life from him. Jim had a passion and strong determination for helping others, whether it was for his lovely wife Linda, his family, or less fortunate children he barely knew. I feel fortunate to have worked with him and grateful for all the things he shared with me.
Linda, you may not remember me but I was Librarian at AHS when you were there.I am so sorry for your loss. I pray the peace that only He can give is yours. My prayers are with you. Dotsy Harris
Mr. Buckner was always a ray of sunshine and a joy to be around. When my parents and I would meet up with him there was always a hug and kind words from him. I know he will be so very missed by the members of the MOPH chapter , friends and family. God bless his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. ( Dad would not have missed the funeral for anything but unfortunately he is in the Veterans Hospital at this time. )

Even though years and miles have separated us, I will always remember the wedding of Jim and cousin Linda. What a special event and what fun for all who were there to witness the beginning of a truly long love affair. May God bless his soul and provide him eternal rest.
