James Marion Leonard's Obituary
James Marion Leonard passed away on October 2, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born on December 8, 1936 in Beatty, AR. He leaves behind his two daughters: Cindi Leonard Alexander (J) of Milton, GA, and Laurie Leonard Smith (Craig) of Atlanta, GA, as well as his twin grandsons, Cade Alexander and Jack Alexander. Preceding his death are his parents, Chester and Oneta Leonard, and his wife, Margaret Lewis Leonard.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude and special thanks to Mike and Debbi Mohler and their family for their kindness, care, and support during the last several years of his life.
Jim grew up in Fayetteville, AR where he graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1954. Shortly after, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Japan, an experience that broadened his horizons. After his service, Jim returned to Arkansas to pursue higher education, graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1963. He worked in real estate after college before joining International Harvester, which took him to the Southeast. He spent many years building his professional life and making new connections. He returned to the Fayetteville area several years ago and lived in Prairie Grove, AR. One thing that always remained true was his love for fishing. It was a passion that brought him joy and solace, a time spent in nature where he found peace.
A graveside service will be held for close family and friends on Tuesday, October 29th at 10:30 am at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, with Moore's Funeral Home handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Debra of America.
Rest in peace. Your journey has come to an end, but your memory will always remain.
