James shared 34 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges. Together, they built a family rooted in love, faith, and mutual respect. James was a proud and loving father and Papaw, and cherished his children and grandchildren deeply, finding immense joy in their laughter and the time they spent together.
James dedicated 24 years to the Greenland school board, working to improve education and opportunities for children in his community. His strong faith was reflected in his service to his church as a member of the finance council, a Eucharistic minister, and a devoted parishioner. His commitment to leadership extended back to his college years, where he proudly served as a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, forging lifelong friendships and a legacy of camaraderie.
A man of generosity and compassion, James found joy in helping others. He was caring, witty, humble, deeply committed to his faith, selfless, and integrity-driven. He was happiest surrounded by friends and family, watching his children’s sports teams, and sharing his love of the outdoors through hiking, fishing, and exploring nature. His kindness, humor, and loyalty left a mark on everyone he met.
