James Farris Tackett's Obituary
James (Jim) Farris Tackett, 83 of Fayetteville, AR passed January 2, 2025.
Jim was born March 5,1941 to the Rev. Otha Farris Tackett and Pauline Paschal Tackett. He grew up in Springdale, AR and graduated from Springdale High School and later studied at the University of Arkansas.
Jim served 34 years in the United States Army National Guard as Sargent First Class E7 and was active duty in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He worked at the Standard Register Company and later drove over the road (OTR) for Willis Shaw Express. He enjoyed sharing stories of his many travel adventures.
After retiring, he gave back to his community by maintaining local cemeteries and restoring headstones. Jim was the volunteer caretaker of Combs Chapel Cemetery in Fayetteville for over 15 years. He was an active author on Find-A-Grave and enjoyed genealogy.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Paulette Tackett and Joyce Miller-Sinclair.
He is survived by Wanda Tackett, his daughter Michelle Tackett Nichols (Bryan), son Jim Bob Tackett (Tina), and grandchildren Renae and Paula Nichols and Beau and Levi Tackett. He is also survived by his siblings Virginia Tackett Laughlin and Dr. Zachary Michael Tackett.
A visitation will be held at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, with Funeral starting at 11:00AM. Burial will be at King’s Cemetery.
