James Allen Zimmerman's Obituary
James Allen Zimmerman, formerly of Shawano, Wisconsin, passed away at his home in Rogers, Arkansas on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
He was born to Clarence and Iola (Petit) Zimmerman on October 2, 1939 in Elgin Illinois.
Jim was baptized and confirmed at Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Elgin, Illinois. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1957 after which he served our country from 1959-1961in the U.S. Army Signal Corps stationed in France. Upon returning from his service he married his wife of 59 years, Carna-Jean Becker on September 30, 1961.
Jim worked as a pressman for a printing company in Northbrook, Illinois for many years prior to moving to Shawano, Wisconsin in 1972. In 1973 Jim and Carna purchased the Shawano Journal Co. which later became Shawano Printing Co., Inc. which they continued to operate until 1993 when they sold the business to their son Greg and his wife Jodi.
He was a member of Shawano Lodge #170 in Shawano, Wisconsin and became Master in 1983. He went on to become Grand Master of Masons in Wisconsin in 1992. Jim was a member of Beja Shrine in Green Bay, Wisconsin, served on the Shawano United Way Committee and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Shawano where he served on various committees before moving to Rogers, Arkansas where he was currently a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Jim enjoyed serving the many organizations and committees he was involved in, hunting, woodworking and loved being outdoors puttering around in the yard.
Jim is survived by his wife Carna, Sons: Jeffery Zimmerman (friend Tanya), Rogers, Arkansas; Gregory (Jodi) Zimmerman, Greenville, Wisconsin; Dr. Robert (Sheri) Zimmerman, Rogers, Arkansas; Brother David Zimmerman, Gresham, Wisconsin; Brother-in-law Bill Becker (friend Sue), Round Lake Park, Illinois; Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Ben) Koepsell, Sheboygan, Wisconsin; Adam (Rachel) Zimmerman, Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Ryan Zimmerman, Greenville, Wisconsin; Alex Zimmerman, Shawano, Wisconsin; Aiden Zimmerman, Rogers, Arkansas; Liam Zimmerman, Rogers, Arkansas. Step-Grand Daughters Madison Cantrell and Sarah-Kate Cantrell, Rogers, Arkansas; plus Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother and his sister Christine Krog.
A private family service will be held at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Home, Rogers, Arkansas on Monday September 28th at 2:00 in the afternoon officiated by Pastor Melissa Ehrhardt, Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers, AR
Visitation with Masonic Services will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano, Wisconsin on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano, Wisconsin with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating on Friday, Oct. 9, 2020 at 2:00p.m. with visitation preceding at 1:00 pm
