Dear Van and Don,I am so sorry about your mother. She was my mother's oldest friend since they went to grammar school together. I know they are happy to be together again in heaven. I also know your mother is so happy to be reunited with her mother, father, brothers and your dad. Blessings to your family during this Christmas season. I hope when you see an angel sing it will remind you of your mother.
I just found out tonight about Mrs. Ivey's passing. She was my absolute favorite teacher at Springdale HS. Because of her, I went to Baylor Univ. as a math major. She helped me to get a full ride scholarship. I think of her often and wondered what she was up to these past 35 years. To her family, she was such an inspiration to her students. I'm truly saddened to hear of her passing.
By far the best teacher during my high school years. Then she was the best for my children. She also taught my husbands siblings. Jane was one of the teachers that made all other professions possible!
Mrs. Ivey was my favorite teacher by far. Her wisdom, students' well-being, ability to truly teach and yes, her discipline were only a few of her attributes. She sent me home one day my sophomore year because my skirt was too short. It would not touch the ground when I was on my knees. That was the school's rule. She got me through geometry, thank goodness, and she tutored my children after her retirement. I lived in a duplex next to her mother, Mrs. Kinkade. What a blessing to know and love the mother and daughter. May comfort and peace be with Mrs. Ivey's family.
The Celebration of Jane's Life was truly a great tribute to her - she would have enjoyed it. The Gardens at Arkanshire is just not the same without her. Tuesdays were the days that Jane baked cornbread to share with others and today (Tuesday) we missed her more than ever. I continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Mrs. Ivey was not only the best teacher I ever had (in any subject) she was the inspiration for me to major in Math at U of A and eventually obtain my masters degree in math there. Incidentally, her mother-in-law was also my first grade teacher in a two room school house at the Zion Community.We actually took a correspondence course together in Abstract Algebra from U of A during my senior year.Her teaching gift was an ability to explain the concepts of math, not just the mechanics.She was not only a gifted teacher, but a wonderful person.She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Sorry to be out of town and had to miss Jane's service. I respected her so much, and loved her even more. She left SHS the same year I started teaching there...she is legendary. We had lots of fun visits at retired teachers' lunches. Sympathy to her family.

She was the most influential teacher I had in high school. She believed in me and in many ways gave me the confidence I needed for college and beyond. She was also a wonderful person. Being in her math class was a real honor. I will miss her.
