Janet Griffith Clower's Obituary
Janet Griffith Clower of Fayetteville passed away Friday, March 10, 2023. She was born September 25, 1931, in Rule, Arkansas the daughter of Henry and Vela Griffith. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Clower, and two children Brooks Clower and Anne Clower.
Janet, known as “Little Graddy” to her family, attended grammar school in a 1-room schoolhouse in Rule, moved to Branson to attend College of the Ozarks at 13, and graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1953, B.Ed., M.Ed., Ed.S. She encouraged many young ladies to pursue higher education during her nearly 30-year teaching career at Fayetteville High School.
She was an active member of PEO, a dedicated advocate of Delta Kappa Gamma, remained actively involved in Altrusa, and most importantly to her, a dedicated mother and grandmother. Some of her brightest memories were traveling with her husband and daughters.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Clower of Fayetteville; two grandchildren Will Clower of Phoenix, AZ, and Evan Clower of Fayetteville and her sister Carolyn Stuart of Wenatchee, WA.
Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday March 14, 2023, at Moore’s Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville with burial to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
