Janet Elizabeth Holman's Obituary
Janet Elizabeth Holman passed away at her home in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the age of 68.
Janet was born April 9, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Norman McCreary and Peggy Holman. Norman McCreary, Peggy Holman and her adoptive father Bill Holman preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her niece Ebby Steppach and nephew Trevor Rossi. She is also preceded in death by her uncles Dr. Roy Brinkley, Charles Brinkley and Louis Anderson and aunts Carolyn Brinkley and Vera Anderson. Lastly she was preceded in death by her grandparents William and Genevieve Holman, Roy and Verna Brinkley and Norman and Ruby McCreary. She was also preceded in death by her fur children Zuni, Bud, Poco, Taos and Bailey.
Janet lived in Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to Lakewood in North Little Rock when she was in 1st grade. She attended public schools in North Little Rock and graduated in 1975 from Northeast High School. In high school, Janet was involved in drill team and choir. Janet had a beautiful singing voice and had the lead as Maria in West Side Story her senior year of high school. Janet then attended Ole Miss for one year before transferring to University of Arkansas. At the University of Arkansas, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She also won the title of Miss University of Arkansas, Miss Arkansas and competed in the Miss America contest in 1979. She was following in the footsteps of her mother Peggy who also competed in beauty pageants. Janet sang beautifully and also composed music and played the piano and organ. Janet was a proud graduate of The University of Arkansas.
Janet’s first love is Jesus. Her favorite life verse is Psalm 91. In all seasons of her life, her faith was essential to her. Her beloved family, Community Group and close friends made the journey extraordinary. Her love of singing, devotion to her fur children, walking the trails of the Buffalo River and being with friends and family sustained her over her lifetime.
Janet had various jobs during her lifetime. She was a wedding planner, non-profit fundraiser, dog-walker, and spent her last several years working at a breast center. Janet was a breast cancer survivor and was a calming force in her job for women who were going through breast cancer. She was a member of New Heights Church in Fayetteville. Janet strongly believed in prayer and was a prayer partner to many.
Janet was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. Janet also loved dogs with a passion. She often petsitted for her friends dogs and loved every minute of it. Janet also loved to sit and watch the birds, squirrels and various other animals. She always had food out for them on her patio and it gave her great pleasure just sitting and watching them. Janet also loved being in nature.
Janet loved her family and loved spending time with them. She also loved her friends and had many friendships that were longlasting. Janet was always the first one to answer if a friend was in need and did not hesitate to help out.
Janet is survived by her sisters – Karan Mactier (Scott) of New Braunfels, Texas and Laurie Jernigan (Michael) of Bradenton, Florida and her brother Stephen Holman (Melissa) of Flower Mound, Texas. She is survived by her nephews Spencer Mactier (Alyssa), Dr. Mitchell Mactier and Ethan Vaness and nieces Harris Steppach, Lindsey Boeken(Hunter) and Emily https://Wilson.She is survived by her great-nieces Melody Mactier and Harper Boeken and great-nephews Hayden Rossi and Parker Boeken. She is also survived by her aunts Bobbye Brinkley and Betty Brinkley. She is also survived by her many cousins.
