Janis Fae Blessing Trumbo's Obituary
Janis Fae Blessing Trumbo, 77, of Fayetteville, died at home on Sept. 21.
She was born April 2, 1931, in Lincoln, Neb., to Earl and Fae Blessing.
She married Donald Trumbo Jr. on Jan. 5, 1957. They raised five sons — Trey, Tx, Tyler, Travis and the late Trent Trumbo.
Her home was full of life, love and laughter. Jan shared her sweet, generous spirit with everyone she met. She was a second mother to a generation of Fayetteville boys, opening her home, her heart and her kitchen. She had the gift of hospitality, making each person around her feel special and loved.
She was a loyal friend, willing to take a stand for the people she loved despite her usually gentle nature. Jan never sought the limelight. She preferred to offer behind-the scenes support, doing whatever she could to make people happy. She truly had a servant's heart.
Her sense of fun was contagious, filling every room she entered. She loved to laugh, sang like a bird and loved everyone she met.
She liked to cook, read mysteries and watch happy movies. She attended a countless number of basketball games, cheering for her boys. She was a warm and generous grandma, providing lots of hugs, love and unconditional support.
She worked as a secretary at Washington Elementary School for a number of years and assisted her husband with his business at A.G. Edwards. She also volunteered at the Fayetteville Public Library.
Jan had Alzheimer's disease for at least seven years, but her quality of life remained high until very near the end. She died as she lived, surrounded by people who loved her and a house full of food.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jimmy, her husband, and her son Trent.
Survivors include son Trey Trumbo and wife Karen of Fayetteville, son Tx Trumbo of Fayetteville, son Tyler Trumbo and wife Teena of Huntsville, son Travis Trumbo of Fayetteville, daughter-in-law Amber Gaskill of Fayetteville, daughter-in-law Bettina Lehovec of Fayetteville, ten grandchildren — Matt Trumbo, Tanner Cangelosi, Tyler Trumbo II, Cooper Trumbo, Cass Trumbo, Harlin Trumbo, Gabe Trumbo, Tucker Trumbo, Sydney Trumbo, Alexis Trumbo, great-grandson Trenton Lee Trumbo, nephews Jay Trumbo and Shawn Trumbo and niece Carolyn Trumbo.
