Janis Sue Guinn's Obituary
Janis Sue Guinn, 67, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was born on December 7, 1957, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to the late James Bennett Reed and Lois Marie Smith Reed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Christen Leigh Guinn; her nephew, Jason Boaz, and her brother-in-law, David Phillips.
On May 29, 1982, Janis married the love of her life, Chris Alan Guinn. She worked for many years at the Bank of Fayetteville, where she made lifelong friendships. A woman of deep faith, Janis joyfully served her church by teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She cherished sharing her love of Christ through both teaching and music.
Janis was creative at heart and enjoyed crafts and antiques. She treasured time with her family—immediate, extended, and beyond—and especially adored her granddaughter, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Known for her love, laughter, and quick wit, Janis brought warmth and joy to everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Alan Guinn; her son, Brian Guinn and spouse Leah; her daughter, Brittany O’Dell and spouse Justin; her granddaughter, Palmer Guinn; her sisters, Jeanie Lee and spouse Bill, Judy Wilson and spouse Mickey; and her faithful canine companion, Pepper. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will dearly miss her.
Visitation will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville on Crossover. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, at First Church of the Nazarene in Fayetteville. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
