Jan and Jim became our neighbours in Pompano 6 years ago. Our lives and attitudes changed from the moment we met them. Jan was the most truly lovable person we have ever met. She was kind, empathetic, loving, never judgmental, a truly great humanitarian. She put the needs of all those she cared about above her own. Simply, Jan showed us what a truly caring person is and should be. We are devastated by our loss and cannot begin to express how deeply sad we feel. Our most sincere condolences to Jim, James and Mandy.

Some ten years ago, Dona and I joined the Fayetteville Athletic Club. We observed Jan and Jim as they walked together around the track, and through the years we came to be conversant and to know one another. On occasion, we encountered each other at the Walton Art Center. Jan and I discovered that we both originated in Huntsville, Arkansas, and her first grade teacher's husband was my third cousin. As we discussed people we both knew, we came to realize that we were distant cousins on the Coger side, her mother's maiden name. It was an honor to know her and to have a genetic attachment. Dona and I extend our sincerest sympathies to Jim and other family members, as they cope with the loss of this kind and decent person.
