Jerry Lynn Plew's Obituary
Jerry Lynn Plew, 62, of Bentonville, Arkansas went to be with our Lord on April 26, 2016. He was born on November 8, 1953 in Mangum, Oklahoma to Norman and Jenetta Plew.Jerry was raised in Altus, Oklahoma where from a young age, he learned to be a hard worker and he carried those values on throughout his life. His mother instilled in him, a love for God which eventually led him to attend Arlington Baptist College in Arlington, Texas. Soon after graduation, Jerry and Diane felt called to minister in Seattle, Washington. Jerry was deeply involved in ministry during his time in there. He had a passion for helping anyone in need, showing a genuine and sincere love for hurting people. He made friends everywhere he went, with no judgment of their skin color, where they lived or how many tattoos they had. He loved them. He would give the poor his last dollar, bring the homeless a meal whatever it took to show them the love of Jesus. He selflessly poured himself into the lives of hurting and broken people. His sense of humor and compassion for others drew people to him. It was often said, There s just something about him. And there was just something about him. His smile was infectious and you couldn t help but laugh when he did. Even when he was the only one that found his story funny!Jerry is survived by his 4 children, Cheridyth Zachary, Randi Haddock, Leah Taylor and Grant Plew; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors spending time with his children and grandchildren where he loved to rig contraptions for them to play on, homemade zip lines to fly on and collecting God s creepy crawly creatures to intrigue them! He taught us how to fish, catch crawdads and horned toads, float the river and simply kick back, relax and enjoy our family while soaking in the great outdoors. He and Grant spent many weekends and summers camping along the river and playing outside every chance they got. He adored his grandchildren and they adored him. That adoration was witnessed by the excitement on their faces when they saw him driving up the road in that beat up, yellow pick-up truck! He may have thought that his truck and home was just a broken old man s junk, but to his grandchildren, they were treasure boxes full of intriguing and exciting memories spent with their Papa Plew.Being loved by Jerry meant he loved you until his last breath. He holds a special place in the hearts of all who knew him, whether it be for a short time or his entire life. His presence on earth will be greatly missed but his family believes in the hope and miracle of a risen Jesus, giving those that know the Lord, the opportunity to be with Jerry again in his eternal home. So until that beautiful day, we will say, See ya later to our sweet friend, loving daddy, fun loving papa, protective big brother and adoring son. You are missed.
