Jerry Ray Wallen's Obituary
Jerry Ray Wallen, of Thomaston, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 79 years old. He was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on August 21, 1945, to John and Anna (Lewis) Wallen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Jerry Ray Wallen II and Michael Shane Wallen, and grandson Jasper Wallen.
Jerry Married Judy Taylor as soon as she graduated high school in 1966. He served in the Army for 6 years. His highest rank being drill sgt. He worked for Swepco/AEP for over 30 years and retired when he was 56. While living in Rogers, Ar, Jerry and Judy were faithful members of Immanuel Baptist Church. During that time, Jerry was able to go on 2 mission trips: one to Haiti, and the other to Honduras. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and anything to do with working on computers. He spent a lot of time doing woodworking, where he built furniture that the family still has many pieces of. He loved to read books, especially Louis L’Amour, and loved to sit on his front porch to watch and feed the birds. Jerry loved his family and was proud to be a veteran.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years Judy Wallen of Thomaston, Ga; daughter Sheryl Bishop and her husband Randy of Woodbury, Ga; granddaughter Skyler Wallen of Fayetteville, Ar; grandson Trent Baker and his wife Amy of Hogansville, Ga; brother John Wayne Wallen and his wife EvaLou of Hitchcox, Tx; and many other family members, friends, and loved ones.
A Visitation will be held October 4 at 11:30AM at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville, with Service beginning at 12:30PM. Burial at Fayetteville National Cemetery will follow at 1:30PM under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
