Jesse Monroe "Monty" Smith's Obituary
Jesse Monroe “Monty” Smith, age 86, passed away Saturday July 17, 2022, in Winslow. He was born on July 16, 1936, in Phoenix, Arizona to Carl and Leona Sumner Smith. He later met and married the love of his life, Loretta on October 23, 1970.
Monty attended Arizona State University in 1960. He retired from the State of Arkansas but was most proud of his work as a foster parent, along with his wife, where he helped to guide and parent over 1000 young men for which he and Loretta were awarded “Foster Parents of the Year” by the State of Arkansas. Monty was a member of Winslow Assembly of God Church since 1974.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Smith; daughter, Crystal Bryant, and her husband Robert of Winslow; one son, Charles Smith of Winslow; one brother, Sumner Smith of Winslow; four stepchildren, Connie Ramey and her husband Billy, Coy Phillips and Debbie Gaesswitz, Curtis Phillips and his wife Debbie, and Doug Phillips and wife Beth all of Winslow; five grandchildren, Jessica Curry, Darrick Phillips, Kyle Phillips, Presley Curry and wife Jacqueline, and Leslie Ramey; two great grandsons, Chayceon and CJ Carr.
Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Friday July 22, 2022, at the Winslow First Assembly of God Church.
