Jo Ann Foster Alsafar's Obituary
Jo Ann Foster Alsafar, 81, of Farmington, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in Fayetteville.
She was born November 23, 1930 on the family farm near Thompson (Cannon Creek), Arkansas, the daughter of David Edgar and Ruth Anderson Foster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thabit Alsafar.
Jo Ann attended the University of Kansas where she met her future husband, Dr. Thabit Alsafar. This was the beginning of her travels to many parts of the world, including living in Canada, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
She was an employee of the Center for Continuing Education at the University of Arkansas and retired in 1995.
She is survived by two daughters, Janina Caudle and her husband Robert of Lincoln and Melody Litzinger of Rogers; two sons, Camille Alsafar and his wife Kimberly of Elkins and Kayri Alsafar and Carol of Farmington; a nephew, Duane Foster of Elkins; seven grandchildren, Ryan Litzinger, Andrea “Roo” Litzinger, Matthew Caudle, Michael Caudle, Nicholas Peters, Wesley Henry and Emily Henry; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Caudle, Gunnar Caudle and Payton Caudle; a special friend, Jan Shumate and a former son-in-law, Steve Litzinger.
Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 24 at Moore’s Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Walnut Grove Cemetery at Crosses, under the direction of Moore’s Chapel.
