Joan Gearhart Havens' Obituary
Joan Gearhart Havens, 97, died on October 12, 2022 at Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville. She was born on September 14, 1925 in Webb City, Mo, the daughter of Earl and Louise Van Hoose. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Head of Whittier, California.
She attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She was married to George A. Gearhart from 1948 Until his death in 1977. In 1982 she married William R. “Pat” Havens who died in 2006.
Joan is survived by four sons: Van, David, Douglas and Jeff, three daughters-in-law: Candy, Jane and Lisa; six grandchildren: Jennifer Condra, Jessica Smith, Katy Hunt, Brock Gearhart, Jake Gearhart and Abby Gearhart; and seven great-grandchildren: Emmy Condra, Lexi Condra, Ben Hunt, Ellie Hunt, Caroline Gearhart, Lily Gearhart and George Gearhart.
Joan was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville and of Chapter AT, PEO.
She loved to entertain and hosted many memorable dinners and parties at her home on Washington Avenue. She and George, and later Pat, were members of “Potluck,” a dinner group that met regularly for over 50 years. They were also long-time members of Town Club.

There will be a private family memorial service.
