Joann Shump's Obituary
Joann Shump-Phillips, age 67, of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 20th, 2017 in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born November 29, 1949 in Key West, Florida, the daughter of Leo Alan Carter and Dolores Raymond Kazanowski. She was preceded in death by her father. She was raised in Dearborn, Michigan, and then moved to Marion, Ohio where she raised her two daughters. She relocated to Fayetteville, Arkansas thirteen years ago. She was a gifted chef and especially enjoyed the preparation and presentation of her meals. She was also a talented craftswoman, skilled at painting, tiling, and remodeling with her husband. Her most important hobby, though, was her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Hank Phillips of Fayetteville; her two daughters Taura McDaniel and her husband Scott of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Marna O’Neal and her husband Sean of Fayetteville, Arkansas; her mother Dolores Kazanowski of Canton, Michigan; step-mother Mary Ann Carter of Cocoa Beach, Florida; her brothers Leo Carter (Cece) of Canton, Michigan, Fred Carter (Julie) of Trenton, Michigan, and Alan Carter (Carol) of Southgate, Michigan, and sister Julie Carter of Metairie, Louisiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and her grandchildren Easton Renee, Chance, Jakob, and Tessa. Memorial service will be held 2:00pm Friday, April 28th, 2017 at the Nelson-Berna Funeral Home 4520 N Crossover Road Fayetteville, Arkansas.
