I just got online to look up Joe, and see if he was still at the Library. I waited on him at the bank for years. I would help him swap out quarters for his collection. I really enjoyed his stories about the war and his life. He even gave me a book that talked about how his life was growing up, the war, and working at devils den. I am saddened to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

Joe was the brother of my Grandmother, Joy Copeland Cox. Enjoyed the historical information shared in the newspaper about his life. What a great legacy he left with his recent volunteer service. Sending my deepest sympathy to the members of his family.

I met Joe several years ago at a family reunion. Always proudly showed me his family tree books and his picture working at the library. He always had a good story and I looked forward to seeing him. The world lost a great man, but heaven has gained a great one. You’ll be missed Joe!
I was saddened today to learn that my friend Joe Copeland has passed away.
We volunteered together for nearly 17 years at the Fayetteville Library Friends Bookstore.
I never tired of hearing his stories, especially about WWII.
There is some comfort in knowing he had a long fruitful life and did much good along the way.

I was so lucky to get to interview Joe and tell his story in a profile for the NWA Dem-Gazette. I talked to him for an hour and a half as he went through his life, from birth to the current day, and I was so amazed at the things he had been through -- so many tough things, including war, but he had come through it all one of the smartest, kindest, funniest men I have ever had the honor of meeting. He left a real mark on me and I am so grateful for knowing him. My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends -- I can't imagine the hole his loss will leave in your lives.
