John Albert Bates' Obituary
John Albert Bates, 86, of West Fork, Arkansas died Saturday, September 2, 2006 in West Fork. He was born December 11, 1919 in Lauderdale County, Alabama. The son of John Henry and Dora Long Bates. He was retired from Campbell Soup Company and a member of the New Life Tabernacle Church near Baldwin, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife Effie Christine Bates of West Fork, Arkansas, seven sons; Kenneth Bates of Fayetteville, Arkansas, William Bates of West Fork, Arkansas, Maynard Bates of Lompoc, California, Donnie Bates of Purdy, Missouri, Ronald Bates of Farmington, Arkansas, Jeff Bates of Elkins, Arkansas, Glen Bates of The Colony, Texas, four daughters; Margaret Fancher of Berryville, Arkansas, Mildred Peel of McGee, Texas, Carolyn Boone of West Fork, Arkansas, Christine Neuendorf of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, thirty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, eighteen great great grandchildren and many more family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the New Life Tabernacle Church near Baldwin, Arkansas with Rev. John Martin and Rev. Ray Shackelford officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbell Cemetery near Greenland, Arkansas. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
