John David Amon's Obituary
John David Amon, age 80 of Rogers, AR, formerly of Malden, MO quietly passed away on June 12, 2021, after a long battle with kidney disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Collis Johnson and Agnes Tanner Amon, his brothers Don Amon & Richard Amon, and his sister Ida Kay Amon Crookshanks, along with his loving wife of 60 years, Judith Ann Maxey Amon. He is survived by his 2 daughters: Lisa Amon Richardson (husband Rick) of Centerton, AR and Lori Amon Pierce (husband Hank) of Rogers, AR; 2 grandchildren; Meagan Carol Evans (husband Will) of Bella Vista, AR, Cody Austin Pierce of Rogers, AR; 5 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Cayden, Annli, Olivia and Ryker Evans, 3 nephews, 5 nieces and countless family and friends.
John loved and cared for his family and his willingness to help others was felt throughout the community. His passions included hunting, fishing, and building hot rods. He believed in working hard which allowed him to play hard and this was demonstrated in everything he did. John was fortunate enough to have 2 of his “pride and joy” hot rods featured in Hot Rod magazine. Hunting and fishing were both life-long loves for him and anyone that knew John, heard all the great stories about his adventures. John also took great pride in making his yard beautiful. He loved planting trees, bushes, and flowers and his philosophy was, “more is better”. After John retired, he and Judi moved to AR to be closer to their daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Spending time with his family made him incredibly happy. John always found a way to help those in need, which included him quietly making donations or “inventing” small jobs to help someone in need, allowing them to earn the money. His generosity was felt and appreciated by many. John’s goal in life was to make sure his “girls” were taken care of and spoiled, and he succeeded. John’s daughters had the pleasure of witnessing valuable lessons by watching John do for others in so many ways.
Lisa and Lori know how blessed they are to have had such awesome role models as parents. The appreciation and love John and Judi had for each other was an amazing example of true love. They parented with love, kindness, and understanding. Everyone knew that the Amon’s door was always open, and everyone was welcome.
John is deeply loved and will be missed by all that knew him.
