John Judd Carleton Jr.'s Obituary
John Judd Carleton, Jr., age 91, of Fayetteville, AR, departed from this life Sunday, May 23, 2021. He was born July 19, 1929, in Kansas City, MO, a son of the late John Judd Carleton, Sr. and Anna M. Jewett Carleton. John was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Eleanor Carleton and an infant son, John Judd Carleton, III.
John’s childhood love of the outdoors, playing baseball, and fishing never left him. As an adult, he loved gardening, KC baseball and football, and fishing using flies and lures that he made. He graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City and KC Junior College. After that, he served in the Navy for 2 years in active duty and 4 years in the Naval Reserves as an Interior Communications Electrician Petty Officer Third Class. From there, John worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a cable repairman until retirement. He maintained membership as a Mason and in Eastern Star and was a member of Sequoyah United Methodist Church.
Survivors are a son, David Carleton; daughters, Deborah Halbert (Jon), Linda Carleton; a brother, Newton C. Carleton (Lois); his grandchildren, Jessica Bielamowicz (Kevin), Kyle Ackerson (Amber), Victoria Carleton, Emilee Carleton, Brian Halbert, Kimberly Halbert, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Sequoyah United Methodist Church. Burial is in Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Nelson Berna Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, until service time at Sequoyah United Methodist Church. Memorials are preferred to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR, 72762.
