John Lawrence Ermann's Obituary
John Lawrence Ermann, 74, of Rogers, AR., departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023. He was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Mena, AR., to William F. Ermann, Sr. and Mary Beatrice Herman Ermann.
One of 10 children, John was the first in his family to be born in a hospital. He graduated from Mena High School in 1966. John always enjoyed attending his high school class reunions, including the 50-year reunion. He was drafted right out of high school and joined the U.S. Navy. He served 7 years, and deployed 8 times in service of the Vietnam War, much of that time assigned to the crew of the USS Chicago. He earned a variety of commendations including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Service Medal. U.S. Senator John Boozman wrote a letter of meritorious honor to John for his service in July 2014. Following his military service, he completed an electrical engineering degree from the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. He retired after 20 years with Hugg and Hall Equipment.
John found joy in the outdoors, hunting, hiking, fishing, and riding his motorcycle on beautiful days. He had an immense love for his goldendoodle grandpups, Fleetwood and Pearl. He will be remembered for his wisdom, protective nature, and for always bringing up politics during dinner.
He was preceded in death by sisters Mary McMellon, Agatha Harris, Eileen Ermann and Clara Combs; and brothers William Ermann, Jr., Joseph Ermann and Little Henry.
Survivors include daughter, Lindsay Ermann of Fayetteville; brothers, Tom Ermann, Ed Ermann of Foreman, AR and sister, Margie Price of Broken Arrow, OK.
Services are rescheduled to, 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2023 at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
