John G. Cummings' Obituary
John G. Cummings passed away on May 13, 2005 in Plano, Texas, following a brave fight with cancer. The husband of Carolyn Dunlavy Cummings, formerly of Fayetteville, John was born in Mendota, LaSalle County, Illinois on July 1, l935, to parents Harold and Nell Cummings. Following graduation in l957 from the University of Illinois, he was proud of his service in the U. S. Army. During his lifelong career in the insurance business, he and his family lived in the cities of Atlanta, Chicago, Houston and, most recently, Richardson, Texas-- (Dallas area). Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Dunlavy Cummings; two sons, John Cummings of Bella Vista and Kent Cummings of Dallas; two daughters, Linda Cummings of Little Elm, Texas and Laura Cummings Bock of Round Rock (Austin area); Laura's husband, Michael Bock and their children, Michael and Marissa, ages 13 and 10; and cousin Nancy Cummings Bunton and husband, Dick Bunton from Compton, Illinois. Memorial services will be held in Fayetteville at the chapel of Central United Methodist Church, 6 West Dickson St. in Fayetteville at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2005. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ed Matthews will be officiating.
