John Thomas Herring's Obituary
John Thomas Herring, Jr. passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 77 years old. He was born on January 12, 1948, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to John Thomas Herring, Sr. and Zelma Oleta (Ratcliff) Herring. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharon Herring Bernard.
John was a 1966 graduate of El Dorado High School and then went on to attend the University of Arkansas. He spent his life in law enforcement, working for the Tulsa Police, the University of Arkansas Department of Public Safety, and as Director of Security for Washington Regional Medical Center. He loved fishing and photography.
John is survived by his significant other, Cathy Renner; niece Carol Artzt Bassinger & Steve; and many cousins, friends, and loved ones.
A Private Graveside Memorial will take place at a later date.
Cremation was under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
