John Aaron McLarty's Obituary
John Aaron McLarty of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on November 4th, surrounded by his family. John was born to Thomas and Arlene on April 8, 1961, in Great Bend, Kansas. In 1983, John and Kris met while working at C.R. Anthony’s. They married in 1986, and recently celebrated 37 years together.
John has been a dedicated salesman and manager at Dillard's department store for the last 25 years. He was personable, hardworking, and helpful to those who worked for, and with him. One of his fondest memories as a salesman was the two opportunities, he was given to fit the Arkansas Razorback Football team for suits. In his free time, John enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, listening to classic rock, walking, and grilling for friends and family.
Those who got the chance to meet John learned just how dedicated and passionate he was. He was passionate for his family, his marriage, his children, and his career.
John was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on August 15, 2022, and received a stem-cell transplant on May 31, 2023. Though John’s cancer went into remission, he passed away due to complications from graft-versus-host disease as a result of his stem-cell transplant. He never got the chance to formally celebrate kicking cancer’s ass, but he did.
John is preceded in death by his father, Thomas McLarty, who passed away on February 5, 2006. John is survived by his wife, Kris, as well as his children, Aaron McLarty (Wife Andrea and daughter Coraline), Amy Rodriguez (Husband Jose and daughter Ella), and Sarah Hill (Husband Drew). John is also survived by his mother, Arlene Wilson, sister, Barbara McLarty Thompson, and brother, Steven McLarty, as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Wednesday November 8, 2023, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Rogers, with funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm.
