jay & julianne:
your grandad buck, i'm sure, was immensely proud of his son and your father and no doubt you are, too. i am proud to have known him for many years through the banks and as a friend and shall sorely miss him. i remember you, too, from an overseas tour many years ago as delightful members of a great fayetteville family.
I always admired John for his commitment to Fayetteville & to the banking industry. I appreciated his desire to make this a city a better place in which to live.
John Lewis hired me for my first job after graduating college. He was nothing but nice to me in my four years at the Bank of Fayetteville. I appreciated the opportunity to work for him and his wonderful staff. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time in your lives may God give you great peace and grace at this time. Helen we were so happy for you guys when we saw how happy you both were at our last get together and know you all shared some good days together. We love you very much. Jim and Cleta
A wonderful man who always remembered, cared and had a smile for everyone.
John was such a kind and giving man. Because of him, I went on to become the first female branch bank manager.
His passing will be a great loss to the entire community. He touched many hearts.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Thousands of people heard John Lewis' wise words. Not everyone in Northwest Arkansas realized how important he was to their lives. And fewer still may have known that the source of his wisdom was that he listened even better than he spoke.
Even when John's opinion didn't perfectly agree with one's own, a person always came away knowing that John understood and respected every opinon based on facts and that he made decisions based on broader knowledge than most of us had acquired. He was a rare man who earned respect and showed respect for all.
