John Paul Nelson's Obituary
John Paul Nelson, age 47, of Winslow, Arkansas passed away Monday June 5, 2023. He was born November 11, 1975 in Chandler, Arizona to Mike and Linda Clayton Nelson. He retired from the West Fork Police Department as police chief. He played basketball at West Fork High School and went on to play for Oklahoma State under Eddie Sutton and in his freshman year played in the Final Four. After leaving Oklahoma State he played for Southern Missouri University. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Helen Nelson and Reverend John and Ruby Clayton; his uncle, David Clayton.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Nelson; two daughters, Rylan Peoples and her husband Cameron of Winslow and Maritess “Tess” Sullivan and her husband Kameron of West Fork; son, Bryce Keyes of West Fork; his grandson to be born in September Harley Peoples; parents, Mike and Linda Nelson of West Fork and his sister, Crista White and her husband Cecil of West Fork; nieces, Dacey Chevez (Johnny), Savanah White, Elianna White, Bailey White; nephew, Samuel White; great nephews, Kai Chevez and Luca Chevez and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday June 9, 2023 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday at Moore’s Chapel with burial to follow in West Fork Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
