John Newman's Obituary
Mr. John Harrison Newman, 62 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born October 11, 1948 in New York, New York to Bennett and Leila (Harrison) Newman.
John was a member of Temple Shalom of NWA, The Rotary Club of Fayetteville and the Institute of Management Consultants. John first came to Arkansas in 1971 and attempted to live off the land in Newton County. He moved into Fayetteville, and found himself managing Ozark Natural Foods. He then helped to found, and then manage, Ozark Cooperative Warehouse. He decided to return to college to learn more about running businesses, and earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the U/A in 1979. John moved to Los Angeles, obtained his M.B.A. from UCLA, and returned to Fayetteville in 1988 to start up his solo Management Consulting and Turnaround practice. In recent years he maintained a part time consulting practice,
He is survived by his wife Darla Newman, his mother Leila Newman of Santa Monica, CA, four children; Apple Newman Rice of Oklahoma City, OK, Sean Rimes of Cabot, AR, Jennie Newman of Fayetteville, AR, Jacob Newman, of Prescott, Arizona; one brother; Robert Newman of Ventura, CA, one sister; Laurie Newman of Venice, CA, and four grandchildren.
Services will be held 3:30 PM, Friday September 30, 2011 at Temple Shalom of NWA 699 North Sang Avenue, Fayetteville, AR with Rabbi Jacob Adler officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
