John was an excellent person. I had the privilege to meet him as a young medical student working at Sparks when he was a resident. He was an outstanding resident-teacher and a role model to the kind of physician I wished to become. I'll always remember 5am hospital breakfasts and making the rounds with him in the very hospital where I was born. Though I lost contact with him after those years, they serve as a reminder of the goodness that was brought to the world in Dr. Nolen.
- Dying, Christ destroyed our death.
Rising, Christ restored our life.
Christ will come again in glory.
As in baptism John put on Christ,
so in Christ may he be clothed with glory.
Here and now, dear friends, we are God's children.
What we shall be has not yet been revealed;
but we know that when he appears, we shall be like him,
for we shall see him as he is.
Those who have this hope purify themselves
as Christ is pure.
