I miss you terribly John I think of you often. You were more than just my boss you were my friend. I just wished we could of worked together longer. I sure would like to hear your thoughts on today’s events. As I sit here and ponder memories of you flood my mind

I worked with John at Crater Lake NP in the early 80's and he was a great friend, wonderful father and husband to Diane. John introduced me to fly fishing, putting a fly rod in my hand for the first time, a pursuit I continue to this day. Though John would be just as happy with a ball of cheese bait, a beer and a lounge chair. John was party to the infamous 90wt oil fish fry cookout with Roger Rudolph and Mark Forbes, which I will leave them to tell the story. It did not end well, at least for me. John was fine national park ranger and superintendent and a good man. He will be missed.
I worked with Diane at Lake Hotel in about 1978 and John was a boat ranger on the lake. Enjoyed them both. I reconnected with John when he was at Apostle Islands and I was at Pictured Rocks. Then would see him occasionally at conferences and meetings. I always enjoyed meeting up with him and talking old Yellowstone times. He was always great fun. One of my favorite people in the NPS. My condolences to Diane and family. I'm sure you all have great memories to hold dear.
