I was also a quartermaster on the Connole and arrived onboard 1971. John was the first person that I met when I come onboard. He was a fantastic leading PO sharing his knowledge and navigation skills with the quartermaster crew. We lost contact after his discharge but I often thought about the times we shared. He will be missed.
I worked with John at NWAC. He was so kind, welcoming and loved Jesus with his whole heart. John and Margie shared some Christmases with me and I always had a nice time visiting with them. John is surely walking with Jesus now. May comfort come through our Father to sweet Margie.
I remember John always smiling, and being a loving, kind person. I knew Margie better than I knew him, but I knew him through Margie, and he seems like the friend we all want to have- supportive, musical, loving, and faithful!
My favorite memory of my grandfather is when he would do a monster walk towards me. I would laugh so hard. - Evelyn
